No news is good news

The one thing I have not missed are the traffic reports and the endless accidents during the morning and evening rush hour . As a former journalist I understand the need to report these things but not hearing about the stupidity of drivers in the tr-state area was actually one of the few blessings to come out of this mess. This morning I hear on the radio just before 8 o'clock a phrase I haven't heard in awhile:  "traffic is heavy." No outrage, just saying.

I thought several times about driving to the city just to witness, for what would likely and hopefully be the only time in my life, the empty streets of Manhattan. In hindsight,  I'm content with my decision not to. What stopped me was the fear that seeing those empty streets would have been the most depressing thing of all. Hoping our new normal is vastly improved from the old normal.
